Voted "Trip of the Year" by Outside Magazine, this unique 8-day trek guides nature lovers through some of Alaska's remote wilderness, making some of its most scenic country accessible in ways that they normally are not.

By using trained (and well-loved) Himalayan yaks to carry guest packs, Alpine Ascents has opened the beauty of Alaska to travelers who have the stamina to hike backcountry trails, but may not have the strength to also carry a heavy backpack. Throughout the adventure, you'll climb to points where you can see the entire Susitna Valley and Alaska Range. You'll walk through fields of wildflowers and pick wild blueberries. And as you wander past clear streams and shimmering lakes, you may even spot local caribou, wolves, bears or foxes.

  • Hikers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Alaska's wilderness
  • Former big-mountain trekkers looking for a more mellow way to enjoy the backcountry
  • Wildlife enthusiasts who want to see Himalayan yaks up close -- and a variety of species from afar
